Anguilla captures the 3-Country Championship trophy

The Anguilla Golf Association (AGA) hosted teams from St. Martin (Association de Golf – Les Tamarins) and Sint Maarten (Sint Maarten Golf Association – SMGA) in the forth annual Three Country Golf Championship on the 23th March 2013 at the Cuisinart Golf Club in Anguilla.

Twenty players each from St. Martin, Sint Maarten and Anguilla golf associations tee’d off in the much anticipated event for the coveted 3-Country Trophy.   This years event was in the format of a net individual Stableford competition with team Anguilla posting a winning score of 526. French St. Martin and Dutch Sint Maarten teams finished with scores of 524 and 507 respectively. His Excellency the Governor, Mr Alistair Harrison made some brief remarks to the golfers and presented the trophy to the Anguilla team.


The Anguilla Golf Association will like to thank the following persons for making this event possible; Ryan Bowey (Head Golf Professional – Cuisinart) and Matthew Closter (Teaching Golf Professional – Cuisinart) and the staff of Cuisinart Golf Club and Italia Resturant.

Twenty-two Golfers participated in the 3-Country Qualifying Tournamant on 9 March 2013. There was also a best NET contest held during this event. The players with the top 5 best net scores received prizes:

5th place – Joseph Shillingford  – Net 76

4th place – Larry Stott – Net 73

3rd place – Peter Young – Net 73

2nd place – Bret Fetterolf – Net 72

1st place – Gary Charkham – Net 69

The next event on the AGA calendar will be the 3 Country Golf Challenge at the Cuisinart Golf Club on 23rd March 2013. Twenty players each from the French, Dutch and Anguilla golf associations will be contending for the Inter Island trophy.

This coming Saturday, 9 March, will be the final opportunity for members to qualify for play in the upcoming 23 March, 3 Country Challenge. Not only is this a qualifier for those yet to compete and those who wish to better there scores but also there is a individual net competition occurring at the same time.
Please call the Golf Shop at 498-5602 no later than Thursday evening to sign up for this event. There will be prizes for the net winners as well as refreshments during the after golf social/awards celebration gathering.
